Twenty-second Amendment
Двадцать вторая поправка (к Конституции)
Ратифицирована в 1951. По этой поправке одно лицо может избираться на пост президента не более чем на два срока, или на один срок, если до избрания оно занимало пост ушедшего с поста президента дольше двух лет. Таким образом, максимальный по продолжительности срок пребывания на президентском посту (около десяти лет) теоретически возможен только для бывшего вице-президента: несколько менее двух лет срока, оставшегося после освобождения должности предыдущего президента, плюс два четырехлетних срока
